An A-tier list of WTA tennis players is set to headline the
Queen's Club Championships this coming June with the grass swing closely following the culmination of this current clay swing. The latest competitors to add their name into the hat are
Victoria Mboko and
Belinda Bencic, joining the likes of Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, Emma Raducanu and Iva Jovic in the main draw.
With all roads leading to Wimbledon, the three talents have chosen to play in London as the women's event in Queen's returns in 2026 after making a highly anticipated comeback in 2025.
The women's event returned after it was last hosted back in 1973. A strong lineup featured, but an
unlikely winner in the form of Tatjana Maria took home the title against Anisimova ahead of the American's run to the final at Wimbledon. The German became the oldest women to win a WTA 500 title.
Once more, the British tennis fans will be making their way to the prestigious tournament in hope of seeing some of the best players on the WTA Tour. Anisimova and Pegula have announced their intention to compete. They will be joined by a home favourite, they will also have the chance to watch some of the most talented young talents show what they can do on grass.
Mboko relishing chance to make Queen's debut
It will be a debut campaign at Queens for Mboko. The Canadian made her Wimbledon debut last year after qualifying as a lucky loser, reaching the second round. This was just before her Canadian Open run where she made a name for herself. Now, she will go into the grass swing as a huge name feared by most with the title her target.
“I am so excited to be making my HSBC Championships debut this summer! Having heard such great things about the tournament, it was one of the events I am looking very much forward to compete at,” she said.
“The last 12 months have been incredible with so many new experiences and this is another one to add to the list. Being able to play at The Queen’s Club in the second year of the new women’s event is going to be very special. I’m feeling confident and happy with how the first few months of the year have been going so far. I’m just enjoying every moment I get to go out and compete. This is a chance for me to show what I can do on the grass and I can’t wait to get going.”
Victoria Mboko will make her debut at Queen's Club Championships 2026
The
American contingent is also very strong at Queen's. Anisimova will be desperate to go one step further than last year with Pegula looking to continue her fine form with the transition from clay to grass set to be a very intriguing one.
British number one Emma Raducanu will be gunning for a deep run in her home country. The brit has not really got her season started yet with illness halting her progress since the final run in the Transylvania Open. On grass in front of a home crowd, she will be desperately hoping for a deep run ahead of a return to Wimbledon. She will be defending a quarterfinal from last year, losing to the 2024 Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng.
On the topic of Olympic champions, Bencic is also among the names to confirm her involvement in the tournament. She has shown her skill on the surface after reaching the semi-final stage at Wimbledon last year, going on to lose to an inform Iga Swiatek.
Queen's will take place from June 8-14, only a week after the conclusion to Roland Garros.
