It certainly wasn't Julia Avdeeva's day at Roland Garros as she was easily beaten 6-1, 6-1 by Coco Gauff and likely will have a nasty bruise after an accidental altercation with the umpire on Court Suzanne Lenglen earlier on Monday.
Gauff had already won the first set and was leading 5-1 in set two when the umpire came down to check a line call. Both bent down to get a look at the spot and as they stood still, the umpire accidentally headbutted the Russian.
Avdeeva who was soon seen with a big red mark on her forehead was clearly bothered by it and had to cool it down with an ice pack. But it didn't solve the red hot tennis served up by Coco Gauff who breezed through the second set 6-1. Next up for Gauff is Tamara Zidansek in the second round. While for Avdeeva, she will be off to lick her wounds and in this case literally.
