Kazakhstan’s tennis star Elena Rybakina took some time off and
witnessed some artistic work in Mexico.
The 24-year-old recently took part in the WTA Finals in the
city of Cancun where her journey came to an end at the group stage as she lost
two out of three matches.
In a video that appeared on the social media platform X — previously
known as Twitter—Rybakina enjoyed the performance of Kazakh Cirque Du Soleil artist, Gasya.
The world number four will be hoping that taking
some time off will help her recover from a rather disappointing outing in the competition.
The Moscow-born first suffered a defeat against America’s
Jessica Pegula in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
She then recovered and defeated Greece’s Maria Sakkari with
a score of 6-0, 6-7, 7-6 to keep her hopes alive of playing in the semifinal.
However, in the all-important encounter, Rybakina failed to
live up to the expectation against the current world number one Aryna Sabalenka
with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
Despite the result in
what was the last big event in the WTA calendar, Rybakina will be pretty
pleased with her overall performance in 2023 as she played in the final and a
quarterfinal of two out of four Grand Slams.
