Naomi Osaka took down Elisabetta Cocciaretto in a superb performance as she thumped the Italian 6-3, 6-4 to storm through at the
Miami Open. A global megastar in terms of tennis that effect was felt post match as Osaka met a sobbing fan who had a handmade Barbie doll of the former World Number One.
Going up to him, the fan was in tears and couldn't believe he was meeting her and got embraced by Osaka who took off one of her wristbands and signed it and gave it to a fan.
In her post match interview, Osaka said it was the most free she has felt since her comeback with the Japanese ace continuing to make strides in her comeback towards being back to her best. A mark that she thought she was going to reach at earliest towards Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
"Honestly, this is probably the most free that I was able to hit my balls, like, the closest to the feeling I want to capture going forward," Osaka said.
"I would say this is probably my best match in terms of shot-making. I felt like the balls I wanted to hit were there. I'm pretty happy with this one."
