World number two
Aryna Sabalenka flexed her muscles after
being told about an incredible stat during the
US Open 2023.
The 25-year-old is currently taking part in the fourth and
final Grand Slam of the year where players are participating to fight for ultimate glory.
Sabalenka defeated Britain’s Jodie Anna Burrage in the second-round
fixture in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
After the match, the current world number two was told that
she has hit 624 winners in the four Grand Slams this year, most by any WTA
player.
Sabalenka flexed her muscles jokingly and responded by saying
that: "We have to ask my fitness coach. Too much weight lifting
maybe?"
The result was indeed an impressive one as the Minsk-born will
be hoping to go all the way, something she has not done before.
Her best outing while
playing at the Flashing Medows was reaching the semifinal twice—in 2021 where
she lost to Leylah Fernandez with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 and then in 2022
where she came second-best to the current world number one Iga Swiatek with a
score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
