VIDEO: Serena Williams takes photo with opponent after defeating her

Serena Williams was part of a very lovely and heartwarming sequence after her match at the Emilia Romagna Open.

Serena William won her first clay match in 2021 at the Emilia Romagna Open against qualifier Lisa Pigato. The native Italian did her best but was easily overpowered by the tennis legend who won 6-3 6-2 in just over an hour of play. It was a very exciting match for the 17-year old qualifier and a memory she will cherish.

Proving just how much of a fan of Serena she truly was Pigato asked Serena after the match if they could take a photo and Serena was more than happy to oblige. Serena has been quite vocal during her career about her hope of inspiring many young girls around the world to pick up the racquet.

Those sentiments became even stronger after she became a mother to a daughter herself. Pigato could not hide her smile as she took the photo with Serena and she also exchanged a few words after the match. You can check out the full sequence below.
