One of the shock wins from Day Two at the
French Open came in the form of World No.134,
Elina Avanesyan who dumped out
Belinda Bencic at
Roland Garros.
The 20 year old who is based in Spain and is into her second Grand Slam has won for the first time in the main draw after losing in the first round at the US Open.
It meant a lot to Avanesyan seemingly as she was in floods of tears taking in the win post match.
For Bencic, the defeat was perhaps not surprising with the Swiss ace after winning two titles dealing with a hip injury since a good start to the season.
She has not played since Charleston in April where she lost to Ons Jabeur in the final and had heavy shoulder strapping today.
Next up for Avanesyan is Leolia Jeanjean, the French home hope meaning that a surprise name will make it to at least the third round this week already.
