Canada’s young tennis star
Leylah Fernandez showed her bond
with the younger sister in a post on social media. The 21-year-old is often regarded
as one of the most highly-rated players currently playing in the women’s singles
category.
Fernandez shared a picture on her official account on the
social media platform Instagram, showed bond with her younger sister Bianca
with a caption: "When you love hugs but your sister aka best friend
doesn’t."
Fernandez did not have a great start to her 2024 campaign
where she has struggled in almost all the competitions. She recently
participated in the
Miami Open where she was knocked out after losing in the
round of 32 to America’s Jessica Pegula in straight sets with a score of 7-5,
6-4.
Before that in the Indian Wells competition, she was knocked
out after losing to France’s Diane Parry in the round of 64 with a score of
7-5, 5-7, 6-2. In the first Grand Slam of the year — the Australian Open — the Montreal-born was knocked out after losing in the second round to America’s Alycia Parks
in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Her best outing in the 2024 season came in the Qatar Open
where she played in the quarterfinal but lost to Elena Rybakina in straight
sets with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
