Wimbledon Championships with one of the main women's hopes
Sonay Kartal already through but
Emma Raducanu,
Cameron Norrie and
Katie Boulter are all to come.
Our results article gives you the one stop shop to read about the top British hopes on Day Three at SW19.
Oliver Tarvet also aims to topple Carlos Alcaraz with the NCAA amateur in the biggest game of his life.
Kartal continues to dazzle
Sonay Kartal continues to dazzle. The British Number Three has perhaps not had the spotlight of Katie Boulter and Emma Raducanu but continues to show vast improvement.
On her favourite Court No.3, Tomova was no match for the Brit who won 6-2, 6-2 and went on a superb run of games from the latter half of the opening set. She reaches the third round for a second year in a row.
Diana Shnaider or Diane Parry await Kartal. Likely Ashlyn Kreuger or Naomi Osaka await in the fourth round if she gets past either the Russian or Frenchwoman next up.
But Kartal depending on the fortunes of Raducanu and Boulter may yet take Centre Stage as the top British hope in the women's tournament. It is easy to see why given her last 18 months.

Tarvet's strong showing not enough to halt Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz delivered a commanding performance against world No. 733 Oliver Tarvet, securing a 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 victory. While it seemed an almost impossible mission for Tarvet against the two-time defending champion, he managed a respectable showing, keeping pace with Alcaraz for significant portions of the match.
The 21-year-old qualifier is guaranteed to jump over 300 spots in the rankings to world No. 394 after his first experience in a Grand Slam main draw. Tarvet landed 61% of his first serves, winning 54% of those points. However, he wasn't effective enough on crucial points, converting only 2 of his 11 break opportunities, while Alcaraz capitalized on 6 of his 10 chances.
Norrie's Resurgence: Claims impressive victory over Tiafoe
Cameron Norrie delivered a remarkable victory against world No. 12 Frances Tiafoe, continuing his journey back to top form after an injury-plagued start to the year. The former top-10 player had fallen out of the top 90 less than two months ago, but he's found consistency in recent months, climbing the rankings and securing significant wins. This time, he defeated Tiafoe 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5.
The world No. 61 had a strong first set, winning 73% of his service points, but without any break opportunities. "Big-Foe" capitalized on the only game where Norrie showed hesitation. However, the former Indian Wells champion gave no quarter from that point on. He secured 5 breaks in the subsequent three sets, conceding his own serve only twice. The Brit didn't even need a tie-break, closing out the victory in two hours and 59 minutes to advance to the third round. His next opponent will be the winner between Jiří Lehečka (23rd seed) and Mattia Bellucci.
Raducanu takes down 2023 Wimbledon champion Vondrouosova
Emma Raducanu secured a revitalizing victory in the second round of Wimbledon against the 2023 champion Markéta Vondroušová. The Czech came into the match in impeccable form, following 6 consecutive wins that earned her the Berlin Ladies Open title, including victories over Madison Keys and Aryna Sabalenka.
After a solid debut against McCartney Kessler, the former Wimbledon champion exits with a tough 6-3, 6-3 loss to the British No. 1. Raducanu showed remarkable serving, landing 72% of her first serves and winning 68% of those points. She saved 4 out of 5 break points faced while converting 4 out of 11 opportunities against her opponent. The former top-10 player returns to the third round at SW19 for the third time in her career and has guaranteed a blockbuster clash against Aryna Sabalenka.

Boulter bundled out
Katie Boulter made a surprising exit in the second round of Wimbledon after falling to lucky loser Solana Sierra. The Argentine had lost in the third round of qualifying to Talia Gibson, but last-minute withdrawals granted her a spot in the main draw. She made the most of it, eliminating Olivia Gadecki and now Boulter in a masterful performance.
Boulter rallied in the first set from a break down, trailing 3-5, and forced a tie-break, which she won 7-6(7) on her fourth set point. However, she faded in the subsequent sets, winning only 2 of 20 points on her second serve—numbers that made it impossible to compete with the Argentine. Boulter committed 14 double faults throughout the match and was ultimately eliminated 7-6(7), 2-6, 1-6.
