The WTA draw has been completed ahead of the US Open which will take place between August 26 - September 8 headlined by defending champion Coco Gauff.
Gauff produced a come from behind win 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to defeat a distraught Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian perhaps comes into this year's tournament though in the best form.
In recent weeks, the two-time Australian Open champion has reached a Quarter-Final, Semi-Final and has sealed the Cincinnati Open title. She has a score to settle with Flushing Meadows and comes into this year's tournament in the most form.
Sweeping aside Iga Swiatek in Cincinnati who has wrangled with heartbreak as of late losing at the Olympic Games to Qinwen Zheng. She faces a qualifier then likely Daria Saville. Gauff too has been in crisis compared to last year and has been losing games she would've won this time last season. Elena Rybakina continues to wrangle with off court illness and has not shown any form. While Jessica Pegula has reached back-to-back finals in Cincinnati and Canada and has shown that there is life. The latter she sealed the title in.
Others to watch include Jasmine Paolini who has reached back-to-back Grand Slam finals, gold medalist Qinwen Zheng, Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova and Danielle Collins who plays in her last Grand Slam ever.
Outside protagonists include Emma Raducanu who will court attention as usual, as well as Naomi Osaka's return to the US Open. Mirra Andreeva has recently impressed and she will be an outside watch. As will Diana Shnaider who has been also superb this season. American watch also includes Emma Navarro, Madison Keys and Peyton Stearns.
