The draw has been confirmed on the WTA side of the draw for the 2023 Canadian Open Montreal also known as Omnium Banque Nationale 2023.
ATP will be played in Toronto, while the WTA shift over to Montreal. Both though are on the 1000 circuit, with the tournament set to take place between August 7-13, 2023.
World No.1, Iga Swiatek fresh off adding the Warsaw Open will aim to add the Canadian Open later this week. She faces Zhu Lin or Karolina Pliskova.
Other top seeds are Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka. Both playing for the first time since Wimbledon. Petra Martic or a qualifier awaits the former. For Rybakina, it's either Jennifer Brady on her return to the tour or Jelena Ostapenko.
Ons Jabeur misses out due to injury, while Simona Halep like in the men's will not defend her title meaning a new winner will be set.
Bianca Andreescu will have great memories from her 2019 triumph in her breakout that season. Saying she felt like that game was there at Wimbledon, she will head back home ready to deliver. That could be against Petra Kvitova.
As will Caroline Wozniacki who returns after three years away. It will be her first tournament back. She opens against a qualifier with a second round against either Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova or Mayar Sherif.
While Venus Williams and Elina Svitolina will also play after being handed wildcards. The latter could face Maria Sakkari.
Eugenie Bouchard is currently facing Danielle Collins in qualifying, while Leylah Fernandez after a run to Washington Quarter-Finals heads also back home like Andreescu wanting to deliver. She could face Beatriz Haddad Maia or Paula Badosa in a top first-round tie.
Other top seeds include Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Caroline Garcia among others in a stacked WTA Draw in Montreal.
