The draw
has been confirmed for the 2024
Transylvania Open, a WTA 250 tournament played
in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The tournament will hold its fourth edition from
February 5 to 11, 2024, and features former world No. 1
Karolina Pliskova,
Alycia Parks,
Tatjana Maria, and
Anna Blinkova in its main draw.
The
Cluj-Napoca tournament is an attractive event for many players, having been
chosen as the best WTA 250 tournament in the world for the past two consecutive
years.
The top
seeds will be Arntxa Rus (No. 43), Tatjana Maria (No. 44), Anna Blinkova (No.
50), and Elisabetta Cocciaretto (No. 60). However, there will be several
dangerous players aiming to capitalize on the opportunity to earn points in a
tournament that won't feature any top-40 players.
Defending
champion Tamara Korpatsch has also announced a late entry, along with former
World No. 18 Martina Trevisan. The Italian did not have the best 2023 season
and is looking to regain ground and bring back her best form, which led her to
the semifinals of the 2022 French Open.
The
tournament is played on indoor hardcourt and will distribute a prize of
$267,082, with the champion receiving $35,250 and the runner-up earning
$20,830. Here is the confirmed draw for the Cluj Open:
