The WTA will make a stop in Japan during it's Asian swing, with the
Japan Open taking place in Osaka, Japan from September 11-17, 2023.
A WTA 250 event, the Japan Open is scheduled to kick off following the conclusion of the
US Open. Several players who may not have progressed far at Flushing Meadows will have made the long flight to Japan, where they hope to bounce back as the season progresses.
Tsurenko to lead the field, Hibino hopes to defend title
Ukrainian tennis player Lesia Tsurenko will be the top seed at the event, with hometown favorite Nao Hibino also present. The Japanese star captured the title at the most recent edition in 2019, with the event postponed for three years due to the pandemic.
The Japan Open offers a total pool prize of $259,303, with the winner taking $34,228 along with 280 ranking points. Below is the full breakdown.
