WTA Race Update: Mirra Andreeva surges up into top four after Singapore as Leylah Fernandez makes big gains

The WTA Race has been updated ahead of the China Open which takes place this week and has many of the big names involved in proceedings in Beijing. Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka are long qualified for the tournament, so the remaining spots are very much the talk of the next few weeks.

With the deal to shift the tournament to North Carolina, we will see the one-time move to Indian Wells and the 2026 run-in begins. Pegula won't play likely during this period and is in third space, but she at least is out of Beijing.

Mirra Andreeva is in fourth place going up a spot after her week in Singapore, while Coco Gauff is just behind her aiming to not only defend her Wuhan title in a few weeks but also usurp Andreeva. Elina Svitolina is in sixth.

Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova off the back of winning the Billie Jean King Cup Finals for Czechia are still very much in contention in the top eight. Noskova will be in line for a debut, with her winning Wimbledon which trims off a spot.

Marta Kostyuk, Iga Swiatek and Iva Jovic complete the top 11 with Victoria Mboko and Sorana Cirstea out of contention in 12th and 13th. Jovic likely has left it a bit too late, the American ace has been tipped by many to qualify for the 2027 edition of the tournament. But despite adding massively to her total by winning Guadalajara, she likely has timed it too late unless Beijing and Wuhan provide the goods.

Leylah Fernandez has risen all the way up to 26th after winning the Singapore title, while Tatiana Prozorova is up all the way to 132 a huge amount after reaching the latter stages.

A big week awaits at the China Open with another update next week helping to shape that future success.
