The
WTA Rankings have been updated with no changes to the top 10 just like the ATP in the week following the third slam of the season.
Paula Badosa has had a brilliant week again despite having to return to play on Monday and then promptly retiring in the Iasi Open. Mayar Sherif, as a result, returns to the top 100 in the
WTA Rankings for sure as the Egyptian goes up 24 spots. With it being a new week, she likely will go up again next week.
Badosa, as a result of her rise, will in fact likely seal her return to the US Open without having to play qualifying in what has been a shrewd move in playing smaller tournaments the past few weeks. She won Bastad last week on the WTA 125 circuit.
The main movers this week, further up, are
Barbora Krejcikova, who won the Athens title on Sunday. She is up six spots to 26th, and despite the Greek tragedy for
Maria Sakkari, she rises again towards the kind of ranking she wants to be at World No.33. She is up four spots.
New career highs across the board and Sabalenka reaches 100 weeks
Oleksandra Olinynykova is up seven spots in a new career high to World No.45. She is top seed this week at the Hamburg Ladies Open and so has further scope to go higher this week given it is quite a poor field assembled in Germany.
Daria Snigur also plays there this week and also went up to a new career high of World No.54 up two spots as a result. Tereza Valentova will play Prague as expected, it is perhaps one of the main ranking drops considering that Czech players have more than not been the big risers. She is down 14 spots this week.
Aryna Sabalenka reaches 100 weeks as World No.1.
While Talia Gibson is also down 12 this week to World No.70. Lili Tagger and Alina Korneeva as rising stars also rise after good weeks to World No.74 and World No.75 up 10 and 15 spots to new career highs themselves.
Aryna Sabalenka, also at the top of the tree, now sits at 100 weeks and has reached that milestone. She's now seventh in most consecutive weeks as World No.1, passing Monica Seles with 92. Her next tricky tie will be Justine Henin and Ashleigh Barty on 117 and 121 weeks, respectively. Sabalenka will be expected to return in the coming weeks in Canada and Cincinnati.
