The WTA has set out an ultimatum for the LTA promising to halve last year's 1 million fine to the organization if players from Russia and Belarus are allowed to participate.
The organisation joined the ATP in harsh criticism towards the LTA for banning players from Russia and Belarus due to their nationality. They fined the organisation a combined 1 million dollars with
Wimbledon being stripped of its ranking points. After a plea by the LTA, the WTA agreed to halve the fines to 500,000 if the ban is lifted for this year's event.
It's highly likely to happen despite some reports suggesting that the LTA is considering extending the ban to this year as well. One thing that could prove troublesome for both the LTA and WTA is the role of the UK Government which could impose a visa ban on the players which would stop their entry into the country.
That is another possibility.
