Amanda Anisimova sums up incredible 2025 season
Amanda Anisimova has had one of the best returns of any player on the WTA Tour this year winning two WTA 1000 titles, reaching two Grand Slam finals as well as the WTA Finals reaching the semi-finals on debut.
She is firmly entrenched into the top five in the world and Anisimova has been seen in recent days in New York with friends as she takes the next little while off after a gruelling calendar. She said that she felt genuine joy all of this year which outweighs any achievements.
A player who has been pretty open and honest about her struggles with mental health, that is the main name of the game for Anisimova who has looked happy and healthy all year while taking breaks when she needs to without burning herself out.
"That’s a wrap for my 2025 season," she wrote. "It was a year filled with milestones, heavy losses, cathartic moments, new cities, lessons, heartfelt memories, and the chance to meet some phenomenal people, along with everything else in between. With all that said, my 2025 wouldn’t have been the same or nearly as special, if it weren’t for the incredible people I have in my life. My family, my one of a kind team, my support system/best friends, my fans, my sponsors, and all those whom I love very much and couldn’t imagine living this chaotic life without. I’ve felt genuine joy throughout pretty much this whole year, whether it was at home or on the road. And to me, that’s my biggest win of 2025. Can’t wait to do it all again next year."
WTA players all go to the same place....the Maldives
The offseason is upon us albeit the chances of WTA stars running into each other it seems are very high with most going to the same place albeit not the same hotel.
Aryna Sabalenka was the one to blaze the trail as she shared more images today of herself at the Maldives going from the pool to dinner with bikini into dress. She finished the year as World No.1 from gun to tape and won her fourth Grand Slam.
But whether her words after losing to Elena Rybakina were a call to others or just a happy coincidence remain to be seen. Usually going to Greece, with her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis she has decided to switch it up.
"Can we do it quick? I want to go to the Maldives," Sabalenka said after losing to Elena Rybakina
in the WTA Finals final.
It seemed to be a hot destination with Belinda Bencic who has also had an incredible year following suit. She won her first title as a mother in Abu Dhabi and jumped 476 spots in the WTA rankings to World No.11. "Leaving this paradise more than relaxed, recharged and serene. We will definetly come back @ritzcarltonmaldives 🩵Thank you for making it possible @maldives.ae," she wrote.
She shared lovely pictures too with her other half Martin Hromkovic albeit their daughter wasn't in tow at least on the pictures who has often been a feature of the post win pictures including in Abu Dhabi this year.
While Jelena Ostapenko has been of the talk of tennis twitter for selling perfume samples and a Dyson hoover but she also made it to the Maldives.
She won a singles title in Stuttgart this year and a pair of doubles titles in Abu Dhabi and Charleston also heading to the Maldives after the last tournament of the year in Riyadh.
As stylish as ever from the Latvian!
Serena Williams stuns in business casual or is it casual business?
Me neither Serena. The legendary American took to Instagram to show off a smart outfit of the day terming it business casual or casual business depending on what you prefer.
It has been a busy time for Williams who has recently launched her podcast with Venus Williams called Stockton Street having athletics stars Gabby Thomas, Sha'Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden on the show.
She was also pictured last week for Baby2Baby with the likes of Alicia Keys, Ciara among others. Elite company for the elite women's tennis player.
Jannik Sinner sums up season
While he didn't finish as World No.1, Jannik Sinner had a great season after the doping ban that saw him out for the majority of it and he took to Instagram to thank his team who were in a picture with the Italian master after he won the ATP Finals.
"A special year with highs and lows, but full of gratitude for the people around me. Couldn’t do it without this team. One of the best weeks of the year, thank you for the support and all the hard work. Time for a little break now," he wrote.
He has decided not to play Davis Cup Finals this week and moves onto the new season after a break. The ATP responded to the Instagram saying: "Wonderful player, wonderful team, congratulations on an absolutely phenomenal year Jannik. See you in 2026."
Maya Joint tries to contain laughter as crowd put her name in Backstreet Boys classic
Maya Joint was in Billie Jean King Cup qualification action as she aimed to reached the final stage before the Finals for Australia next year and she was left holding in the laughter as the crowd were firmly on her side back home.
Joint is now the Aussie No.1 and will have a new pressure as the top player on the women's side alongside Alex de Minaur in the men's at the Australian Open. At 19, she is one of many teenagers blazing a trail including Victoria Mboko and Alexandra Eala with all three being friends.
But she had to take the crowd worship in her stride as they sung I Want It Maya Way as she crouched down trying not to laugh.
