Novak Djokovic made history on Thursday night in a brutal win over Gael Monfils who asked for an autograph following the defeat seemingly not taking it too much to heart.
Monfils lost for a 19th time in his career to Djokovic who has barring an early career match in Italy which isn't part of their head to head has never lost to him.
That carried on with Djokovic sealing it 6-3, 6-2 at the Cincinnati Open in an hour and eight minutes. He surpassed Rafael Nadal in the process who held an 18-0 head to head over Richard Gasquet.
Monfils posted the signed shirt which is the one he wore in the match, with Djokovic putting a hilarious unapologetic message on his shirt rubbing it in to the max.
He wrote “#19. 17.08.23. Sorry, not sorry," adding a smiley. But for the Frenchman, he called Djokovic 'the greatest of all time' perhaps a reason behind his constant losses is the respect he has for him.
“It may not have been the match I was hoping for against the GOAT, but it's still an honor and a pleasure to face @DjokerNole. Despite everything, it remains a positive week. I'm going to rest to be on top at the US Open. Thank you so much for your incredible support,” he wrote.
