Alexander Zverev was made to really battle as he saw off Lukas Klein in five sets coming back from 2-1 down to seal a 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(4) victory in a tie that lasted nearly five hours on John Cain Arena at the Australian Open.
However, amid his recent domestic abuse trial which is set for May which was also asked to every player, and also after his first round, the questioning continued in the only English question asked as part of that section of the press conference.
Zverev is scheduled to appear in Berlin Criminal Court in May to contest allegations of domestic violence levied by his ex-girlfriend and mother to his child, Brenda Patea. He slammed journalists for going after clicks instead of the facts after his first round and his second round press conference was further abrupt.
“Regarding your upcoming trial, do you plan to attend in person?” quizzed the journalist in the only question answered in the English portion.
"Wow. That's a question. I just played four hours, 40 minutes. That's not the first question I really want to hear, to be honest. I've got no idea. It's in May," Zverev said.
It was the only question he faced about the trial in the press conference as the English portion was cut short after that.
