Rafael Nadal took down Alex de Minaur 7-6, 6-3 in a win that left fans of the Spaniard not only pleased to see his best display since 2022 in terms of statistics but also dreaming. Among those wondering what could be is former Andre Agassi coach, Brad Gilbert.
Nadal while still not 100% by his own admission will head towards his next clash against Pedro Cachin full of hope with the side of his draw also blown wide open by Stefanos Tsitsipas losing out. This allowed Thiago Monteiro a route through who sits in the section awaiting the winner. So there is a big chance for the Spaniard. But also he will have one eye on Roland Garros.
While he will want to win the tournament next week, he will know that Rome for instance is incoming as well as Roland Garros and both will be the priority when it comes to his future plans. Albeit the latter he will likely play no matter his condition saying he was prepared to die at the Paris major. But Gilbert in particular was full of praise albeit without getting too carried away like some about this result."Vamos-Rafa πŸ’ͺ πŸ‘ looked way better today in taking out little Demon πŸ‘Ώ raw β—»οΈŽ all of sudden looks πŸ‘€ a lot better," Gilbert posted on X (formerly Twitter).
