It may seem Carlos Alcaraz is pretty much unbeatable to anyone on court when he is on song, His eight titles and 10 finals back this claim up, with a brilliant all-round game to support his quest wherever he travels to. However, there is one part of his game that may be lacking behind: his serve.
There have been times this year where Alcaraz has looked imperious on his serve. Take his title-run at Queens, where he was not broken once enroute to winning the title. His serve was lethal in that event, making it practically impossible to defeat him. In the final, he served an incredible 18 aces against Jiri Lehecka, a new personal best for the young Spaniard.
The technique is something he has been working extremely hard on as he looks to propel himself further away from his rivals in terms of quality. While these improvements have produced good showings, it seems that there is more work to be done in this area.

Alcaraz first serve off the pace

In terms of first serve points won, Alcaraz sits a staggering 19th in the 2025 statistics, boasting 74.04% success. This is unusually low for the six-time Grand Slam champion, with his name usually coming near the top of each list.
It may seem that showings at Queens is possibly a one-off, with him lacking the consistency with his first serve compared to other top players. His accuracy is not always spot on, with him failing to find the specific spot he is aiming for, making it easier for his opponent to fire the ball back at him. If he can find some consistency in his first serve, then it is dreadful news for his rivals, including Jannik Sinner who looks down on him in this list.
The Italian is perched up in third with 79.09% of his first serve points won. This is a much higher tally than his arch-rival, with a 5% difference in tallies. This statistic has also come with the vast improvement in Sinner's serve. This is something he exceptionally utilised in Wimbledon to defeat the two-time reigning champion. Similar to Alcaraz, the Italian has also worked very hard on the technical aspects of his serve, and so far is reaping more rewards than Alcaraz. He is much more consistent, can find the white lines on a more regular basis and extract more power, giving his opponent a torrid time returning.

Duo of Americans top the list

Taylor Fritz leads his compatriot Reilly Opelka in the first serve points won stat in 2025. He leads the way with 79.71%, just ahead of the tall Opelka with 79.22%. The pair both heavily rely on their serves, with many matches they participate in going deep into sets, with tiebreaks common.
Behind Sinner in third, Alexander Bublik sits in fourth with 78.62%. This is another highlight of how much he has improved this year. Incredibly, he is even ahead of Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard, who recorded the most powerful serve seen at Wimbledon, sending the ball at a blistering 153mph towards Fritz in their opening round clash. Similar to Opelka, the Frenchman's big serve carries him through a lot of matches, with his overall game lacking the stars of the sport.
20-year-old Jakub Mensik slots in behind with 78.06%, then it is a slight gap before reaching the recent Paris Masters finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is currently enjoying a fantastic end to the campaign. Andrey Rublev (76.87%), Novak Djokovic (76.55%) and Daniil Medvedev (75.91%) complete the top 10, still a decent chunk ahead of the current world number two in 19th.
