Rafael Nadal has accomplished almost everything there is to on the tennis court, but a recent record of his has left many even more impressed, including former World No.1
Andy Roddick.
The Spaniard recently set another milestone by establishing his 17th year in the ATP Top 10 rankings. After making his debut among the elite on April 25th 2008, Nadal has never fallen out of that group and currently sits at 790 straight weeks in the top 10. This surpasses the previous record held by retired American Jimmy Connors, who spent 789 weeks in the ATP Top 10 rankings.
Amazed by this staggering fact, Roddick could only express his disbelief in a simple tweet.
"This is absurd" - wrote the American.
Nadal won his first
Barcelona Open title in 2005, and climbed from World No.11 to No.10 in the rankings. The 21-time Grand Slam champion has shown no signs of slowing down, as he started the 2022 season with a 20-0 record that included the Australian Open title in January. The 35-year old suffered his first loss of the season to Taylor Fritz in the final at Indian Wells, before revealing he was dealing with a rib injury and has since taken time off to recuperate.
