Novak Djokovic continues to build on his incredible records, reaching 50 semifinal appearances in Grand Slam tournaments after his stunning victory over Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has an impressive record in major tournaments, further distancing himself from Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
As expected, the Big-3 dominate this record, with Nole pulling further away from his rivals. The Serbian is the player with the most major titles, most finals, and now most semifinals. With the 50th reached on Tuesday, he has achieved this feat in 77 Grand Slam appearances, meaning he has reached at least the semifinals in 65% of his major appearances.
Behind him are Roger Federer, with 46 semifinal appearances (20 titles and 11 finals), and Rafael Nadal, with 38 semifinals (22 titles and 8 finals). Rounding out the top-5, but with a significant gap, are Jimmy Connors (31) and Ivan Lendl (28).
Djokovic's semifinal appearances have been nearly equally distributed across all four majors: 12 at the Australian Open, 12 at the French Open, 13 at Wimbledon, and 13 at the US Open.
However, when considering female players, there is still one person ahead of Djokovic in Grand Slam semifinal appearances: the American 18-time major champion, Chris Evert, who reached this stage 52 times, but in only 56 Grand Slam appearances, a 92% rate that will likely be very difficult for anyone to match in the future.
Nonetheless, with the level displayed by the 37-year-old player, it is not hard to imagine that Djokovic could equal or surpass Evert's 52 semifinal appearances.
At the moment, Djokovic must prepare for his upcoming match against world No. 2 Alexander Zverev this Thursday. In his 11 Australian Open semifinal appearances, he has only lost once, last year to Jannik Sinner, while in the other 10, he not only won but also claimed the title.
