Former World No.1 Daniil Medvedev may have lost the Indian Wells Open final to Carlos Alcaraz, but that hasn't stopped the Russian from maintaining a positive attitude which continues to endear him to fans.
The 2021 US Open champion kept pace with Alcaraz in the opening set but fell in a tiebreak, before the Spaniard upped the tempo to prevail with a 7-6(5) 6-1 victory. The losses continue to accrue for Medvedev, who has now lost 18 finals across Grand Slams and ATP Tour level tournaments in his distinguished career.

Medvedev maintains sense of humor after loss

The World No.4 fell to Alcaraz in the final of last year's edition, making it two consecutive losses to the Spaniard at that event. Nonetheless, Medvedev tried to maintain a positive attitude following his loss, and pointed out some advantages to leaving the arena earlier than the champion.
"In every sport, if there's a final, the losers stay to congratulate the winners," reflected Medvedev. "Of course, it's always difficult for the one who lost. But when you win, you have 3 or so hours of photoshoots, interviews. So I was thinking, 'at least I'll be able to go home in 30 minutes.' You always have to look at the bright side."
