It is Quarter-Final time at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel which takes place in Acapulco with a stacked schedule of play set.
Who will make it to the semi-finals? With the likes of Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka and Kyle Edmund involved in the Schedule of Play, can other players upset the apple cart and pull of a brilliant upset.
It all starts off with an all American battle between John Isner and Tommy Paul. The latter claimed one of the shocks of the day yesterday with a
career best win against Alexander Zverev in straight sets.
He faces another daunting prospect in the Quarter-Finals with his fellow American, John Isner firing well after victories over Mischa Zverev and Marcos Giron in straight sets. His serve in particular is always a good barometer of form and he has hit 50 aces already in Acapulco.
It is a match though that could go either way with Isner's big serve facing off against the form and confidence of Paul, a very intriguing clash.
Edmund hopes to continue form and Dimitrov to shun unwanted record against Wawrinka?
Felix Auger-Aliassime was also dumped out yesterday losing out to Kyle Edmund, who continues to show his return to form with another good spell on the Mexican courts of Acapulco. He also produced brilliance against Feliciano Lopez as the New York Open champion faces Taylor Fritz next.
Fritz has eased past Ugo Humbert after finishing well against John Millman but for Fritz, he will have to battle Edmund's forehand which has produced time and time again. Can the Briton continue his excellence?
As alluded to in yesterday's preview, Wawrinka has been finding his range and he outhit Pedro Martinez as expected last night and next up is a familiar foe in Grigor Dimitrov. It is 7-4 to Wawrinka in Head 2 Head but don't let that fool you.
He has won the last five matches against the Bulgarian and Dimitrov seems to have Wawrinka as his bogey player and despite playing well so far defeating Damir Dzumhur and Adrian Mannarino, he will know that it will be an uphill struggle to unseat the former three-time major champion.
Nadal set for dominance against Soon-woo
Rafael Nadal concludes proceedings taking on Kwon Soon-woo. The latter has made a fine start to proceedings in Acapulco defeating Taro Daniel before dismantling Dusan Lajovic 7-6, 6-0.
As a result though it doesn't get any easier than a test against Nadal who has not dropped a set in defeating Pablo Andujar and Miomir Kecmanovic and as a result he will have the confidence against a player who doesn't have a lot in his arsenal to really trouble the legendary player but the shock factor will always be there against him. Can it be an easy win for Nadal or a troublesome night at the office?
