The 2023 Nitto
ATP Finals have set new records in terms of ticket sales, as the ATP's top-ranked players continue to fight for a place at the event, held from November 12-19.
The season-ending tournament will be held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy for the third consecutive year.
Novak Djokovic,
Carlos Alcaraz, and
Daniil Medvedev have all already confirmed their spots as part of the eight players at the tournament.
Among the players vying for the remaining four places is World No. 7 Jannik Sinner, who won his first ATP Masters 1000 tournament in August at the Canadian Open. Stefanos Tsitsipas is also in a good position to qualify, currently ranked at No. 5 in the world. However, he has suffered some poor results as of late, being ousted from the US Open in the second round.
World No. 4 Holger Rune is also in a strong position rankings-wise but has suffered some early exits from tournaments over the summer as he deals with a back injury. World No. 6 Andrey Rublev is also a strong contender for qualification after he reached the quarter-finals of the US Open earlier this month.
2023 ATP Finals breaks new record
It has been revealed that of September 23, this year's ATP Finals have a recorded revenue of 14,336,688.20 dollars, with 118,651 tickets sold. This is a significant increase compared to last year, having already exceeded the final pre-sale figure, which closed on November 12, 2022.
One possible reason for this is that more people from abroad are interested in traveling to the Piedmontese capital this year to watch the top eight ATP players battle it out against each other. The total number of tickets purchased so far outside of Italy makes up 41.21% of sales.
This is an increase of 10% compared to this time last year when they contributed to 31.02% of all sales, as reported by Super Tennis.
Among other players with a chance of qualification to this year's ATP Finals are World No. 8 Taylor Fritz, No. 9 Casper Ruud, and No. 10 Alexander Zverev. Frances Tiafoe and Alex de Minaur could also be in with a shot. They are ranked at No. 11 and No. 12 in the world respectively.
