The ATP Ranking has been updated after the 2024
Rome Open in the final pre-cursor to the 2024 French Open which will begin a week today (Monday 27 May).
Alexander Zverev,
Nicolas Jarry and
Alejandro Tabilo were among the winners from the ATP 1000 in the Italian capital.
Zverev moved ahead of Daniil Medvedev and locked in a top four seeding for the French Open after claiming the title. He saw off Nicolas Jarry in the final who himself broke new ground. Other changes in the top fifteen included Hubert Hurkacz usurping Stefanos Tsitsipas into eighth to level his career high. Taylor Fritz is into 12th and escapes his two compatriots for now with Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton both moving up to 14th and 15th. But still with Holger Rune wedged in between.
But it was Nicolas J`arry who won big. The Chilean was one of two from the nation to ironically both move up seven places. Jarry into a new career high of 17th after reaching the final and he sits on the cusp of the top 15.
Alejandro Tabilo also has scope to move up and is a new career high of 25th. Other players to have new career highs include
Arthur Fils after winning the Bordeaux Challenger (31st), Jack Draper (up five spots to 35th),
Zhizhen Zhang (up 14 spots to 42nd) and Luciano Darderi who moves up seven spots into 47th and the top 50 at that.
Nicolas Jarry (pictured) was a big winner from Rome alongside Alejandro Tabilo.
Flavio Cobolli, Pavel Kotov and Thiago Seyboth Wild (all 56-58) also had new career highs. As did Alex Michelsen.
Novak Djokovic remains as World No.1 for now with the equation fairly simple with Sinner likely to seal top spot if he goes out early. So a title is likely needed. 2,000 points are set to drop off his ranking which would hand the Italian the World No.1 whether he plays or not next week.
But Djokovic of course will be World No.1 for the French Open and will take his spot as top seed with those now confirmed ahead of Sinner, Alcaraz and now Zverev.
