ATP Rankings Update: Alex de Minaur usurps Andrey Rublev as Kei Nishikori and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard make huge rise

The first week of the new season is over so that means the ATP Rankings have been updated on Monday January 6 with the latest movers and shakers as Alex de Minaur, Kei Nishikori and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard feature heavily.

De Minaur who has a high of World Number 6 has taken a step to go back there. He usurped Andrey Rublev as the Russian dropped 280 points during his Hong Kong title defence which went south as he lost to Fabian Marozsan.

This allowed De Minaur to move up. But it was a tournament that also breathed life into Kei Nishikori who jumped up 32 spots to reach World No.74 on the back of his loss to Alexandre Muller in the final of Hong Kong.

He also could've headed back towards the top 50 with the title showing that he is one result away from going further back to his best. Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard finished as semi-finalist in Brisbane and he becomes the new World No.30.

While Alexandre Muiller like Mpetshi Perricard his compatriot ascends to new heights, he reaches World No.56. Jiri Lehecka (up four to 24), Gael Monfils (up three to 52) and Yoshihito Nishioka (up six to 63) are among the other main movers as we move on to Adelaide.
