The Paris Masters saw Jannik Sinner become the champion and he has ascended back to World No.1 for potentially just a short time as the ATP Finals approaches next week. He captured the season's final Masters 1000 tournament, a fifth of the year and has ended Carlos Alcaraz's eight week stint at the top of the rankings.
Sinner lost the World No.1 spot albeit surprisingly in regards to how long it took to dethrone him given that Alexander Zverev looked for a long period like the most likely candidate until a poor Golden Swing knocked the German of course almost permanently when it came to his year. Almost similar to Carlos Alcaraz when World No.1 was there for the taking in the Asian swing two years ago.
Sinner was banned from the Australian Open up until Rome this year and albeit reached at least all the major finals on returning, his stay of execution was more of a marvel in itself. His stay though will go from being 65 weeks to likely just one week. Alcaraz will return to the top for at least a week from next week. This year's ATP Finals run from November 9-16 and the fight for Year End No.1 is set to conclude there with Sinner sat 150 points behind going into that tournament.
Albeit he is defending champion so while his points have fallen off, he will likely need to one up Alcaraz to complete what he called in his mind an impossible goal. Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic continue to sit between third and fifth with no change there. Ben Shelton and Alex de Minaur have swapped places though and sit in 6th and 7th respectively. Felix Auger-Aliassime's runner up finish too has seen him rise though as he sits in World No.8 and while at the expense likely of Musetti playing the ATP Finals in the race, the same can be said for the rankings.
He has jumped the Italian in both to sit in eighth compared to 9th and Casper Ruud who completes the top 10. There are still two tournaments over this next week though in Metz and Athens though which are being played by the leading lights in said race including Auger-Aliassime and Bublik so in reality, that could very well change also in the coming week with the race to the final Turin spot going from being all but sewn up due to a week of retirements in Basel and Vienna.
To now it being a last week dash to the line between those involved. At least it isn't a foregone conclusion and we will get in fact a race to the end with even Shelton, De Minaur and Fritz who were long up there not dead certainties until this past week when they sealed their spots.

Bublik, Davidovich Fokina, Vacherot and Fonseca star

We now head a little bit further down with Alexander Bublik being one of the shock packages of the year. He went from being very much the showman who never massively achieved much ala Nick Kyrgios or Gael Monfils to being one of the most red hot names on the ATP Tour this year.
He has scooped four titles in 2025 over the three surfaces winning them on each and while he joked that he wants retirement and not to win a Slam in his win over Taylor Fritz and continuing to get into arguments with players like Corentin Moutet, his career best year is very much baring fruit. He made his maiden Masters 1000 semi-final and is into the top 15 of the ATP Rankings for the first time moving up three spots to World No.13.
In addition, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is another of those players to seriously move up in spades. After losing all four finals that he has played in this year, that heartbreak has not dissipated but he has got a ranking boost to alleviate that as he is up to a new peak of World No.14. Valentin Vacherot too in reaching the Quarter-Finals in Paris is also on the rise again as he goes up 10 spots to World No.30. Very much on a free roll after winning the Shanghai Masters and likely one that will continue to rise. Joao Fonseca too sits in World No.24 up four spots to a new career best. One to watch certainly in the coming year as he aims to reach the top 20 for the first time.
