Roger Federer on a tennis court is a sight to behold. The Swiss has become synonymous with his talents on grass and synonymous with
Wimbledon following his domination of the tournament in the past. He has come to Wimbledon this year to watch the tennis, and decided to roll back the years and step back onto the court to hit a ball once more.
Dressed all-white garments, the seven-time
Wimbledon champion could be located on one of the grass courts in the facilities at SW19 hitting the ball with precision and accuracy in a rally with a hitting partner.
It was a huge nostalgia trip for many tennis and Federer fans who long to see him compete in the flesh once more. Following his retirement from tennis, fans only have their precious memories left of him. Clips like this with the 44-year-old on the court is a sight to behold.
He could still hit the ball very well and cleanly, still possessing the talent he once had. It seemed to be a competitive session going on. Federer moved well and was constantly bouncing up and down returning shots seemingly effortlessly.
He was pictured as a jubilant figure, smiling and laughing following points while also sharing a funny moment at the end of the video with a young ball boy. The
caption read: "Roger Federer hitting up at Wimbledon again in all its glory."
Federer in the house as men's final in store
Federer is all too aware of the feelings and tensions felt before stepping out onto Centre Court. Not only that, but to make that walk onto the iconic court in a final. An 11-time finalist, Federer won five consecutive titles between 2003 and 2008. He also picked up the ultimate prize in 2012 and 2017 with his last final appearance coming in 2019 in a five-set thriller against Novak Djokovic.
Today, Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev look to emulate what Federer has done so many times before and win the Wimbledon title. It would be a second for Sinner, who won last year, and a first for Zverev in his maiden Grand Slam final on grass.
Sinner will be the overwhelming favourite due to his recent form against the German but also due to his performances on court. Having not dropped a set since the opening match, he has gone through the gears while disposing of Djokovic in a fine manner in the semi-finals.
He is nine matches unbeaten against Zverev with four of them coming this year at Masters 1000 level. However, the number two seed won the Roland Garros title and has been in great form this year, finally managing to find the winning combination at Wimbledon following years of early exits. He had not made it past the fourth round before this tournament.
One of them will become Wimbledon champion, adding their name alongside Federer and the other greats who have tasted success in this prestigious tournament.
