Swiss STF joined the race for the attention of
Roger Federer as the former player is set for a media career in tennis.
Many expected Roger Federer to transition to tennis media eventually due to his importance for tennis globally. He resurrected a sport that has lost quite a bit of interest after the 90s and he's still considered the face of the sport despite not being active anymore.
Due to his popularity and his extensive knowledge of the sport, a media career always seemed logical. When he confirmed that it would be something he'd consider a secret bidding war started. Sue Barker, a former player and a longtime anchor for the BBC's
Wimbledon coverage hinted at Federer joining BBC for the grand slam recently.
The network is not the only one that is battling for the attention of Federer as the Swiss STF joined the race. They even confirmed it after an inquiry:
"Every TV station in the world would be delighted to have Federer as a tennis expert, and for us as Switzerland's public service medium, of course, that's especially true."
It remains to be see who wins out but Federer looks set to be part of tennis coverage fairly soon.
