Albert Ramos has given
Carlos Alcaraz trouble in the past but the Spaniard was able to overcome his compatriot today with relative ease despite a slow start at the
Rome Open.
Alcaraz and Ramos played a very crazy match last year at Roland Garros with the older Spaniard almost beating the up-and-coming youngsters. Today looked eerily similar for a while as Ramos took an early break and held it for a few games before Alcaraz finally stormed back and made it 3-3.
From there we saw the players winning their serves for a few games but eventually, Alcaraz jumped out ahead and closed out the opening set 6-4. It was a really aggressive showing from him as he posted 16 winners to only 7 unforced errors. The second set was even more impressive from him as he put Ramos under a lot of pressure.
Ramos tried to match Alcaraz with an increased level of aggressiveness but it backfired badly because that's not his game. He had 12 unforced errors in only 7 games of play bowing out 1-6 in the second set.
