Carlos Alcaraz withdrew on Tuesday night from the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters with injury fears confounded by the Spaniard with issues with his right forearm behind a sudden withdrawal. Two pivotal days seemingly await according to MARCA in his latest fitness bid.
Alcaraz will carry out a double test on Thursday and Friday returning to training after two days off with his Barcelona Open hopes hanging in the balance. He will return to training back home at the Ferrero Tennis Academy under the guidance of his coach. But they will soon know if there is a need for any further surgery or time off.
This is due to Alcaraz pulling up twice during two previous practices in recent days with his injury so it has been enough to restrict his practice time without being a precaution that he could play through. Barcelona Open organisers will be keeping their fingers crossed with Rafael Nadal travelling to Barcelona this week to see if he can play. Their two leading lights in reality could both withdraw from the tournament within the same period with Nadal travelling on Wednesday to ascertain his next steps. The legendary Spaniard has not played since Brisbane and admitted that he was unlikely to play Barcelona or Madrid and it seems like the new kid on the block in Alcaraz faces a battle to do so too.
