Carlos Alcaraz has admitted uncertainty over his participation at Roland Garros as he continues to manage an injury, with upcoming medical tests set to determine his immediate future.
The Spaniard, one of the leading contenders on clay, revealed that the next few days will be decisive in assessing both the severity of the issue and whether he will be fit to compete in Paris.
“I guess we’ll see,” Alcaraz said to Teledeporte. “The next test is going to be crucial, so we’re trying to do everything we can to make sure it goes well.”
The 21-year-old is currently in a waiting period as he undergoes further evaluation, with no definitive timeline yet established. While there is no confirmation that he will miss the tournament, his comments underline the uncertainty surrounding his condition.
“I’m being patient — really trying to stay patient over these days,” he explained. “But things are okay. We’re just waiting a little bit, with some tests coming up in the next few days, and after that we’ll see how the injury is and what steps to take next.”

Barcelona withdrawal leads to current state

Alcaraz’s focus, for now, remains on recovery rather than competition, as he looks to avoid aggravating the issue ahead of one of the most physically demanding events on the calendar.
“For now, I’m trying to stay positive and keep my spirits up, even though these days are feeling long.”
This was brought about when Alcaraz had to withdraw from Barcelona. He saw off Otto Virtanen 6-4, 6-2 but then had to withdraw from his tie with Tomas Machac. He required treatment for wrist pain and was seen in photos with a bandage on his wrist.

Carlos Alcaraz is facing a race against time.
He spoke about the injury above to Spanish media at the Laureus Sports Awards earlier tonight. But he also spoke after his Barcelona withdrawal about his status.
"The truth is that it's strange and difficult to sit here for the second time, because I've done this before, and to say that I won't be able to continue in the tournament.
"As everyone could see yesterday in the match, after a return I felt like my wrist gave out and I started to feel discomfort that, little by little, kept increasing during the game.
"It's a situation that I thought I'd felt before and that wouldn't get worse, that it was simply discomfort from the effort of the entire week, but I saw today's exams and it's an injury a bit more serious than everyone expected.
With Roland Garros fast approaching, the tennis world now awaits the results of those crucial tests, which will ultimately determine whether one of the sport’s biggest stars will take his place in the draw or be forced into a frustrating spell on the sidelines.
