Injured Alcaraz stays on top of French Open odds

Carlos Alcaraz remains the favorite according to the bookmakers for the French Open despite his injuries during the clay swing. The world No. 3 has struggled for consistency on the European clay and has already withdrawn from the Monte-Carlo Masters, Barcelona Open, and now the Rome Open, the final stop before Roland Garros.

The 21-year-old tennis player barely participated in the Madrid Open, where he was defending his titles from 2022 and 2023, but he fell in the quarterfinals to the eventual champion Andrey Rublev by 6-4, 3-6, 2-6. After the match, Alcaraz admitted that he wasn't at his physical peak, and shortly after, he announced his withdrawal from the Rome Open, which will take place this week.

Despite his physical issues, Alcaraz remains the favorite for a tournament that seems more open than ever, according to the bookmakers. The Spanish player stands at 21/10 on Oddschecker, confirming his position as the favorite, especially considering the challenges faced by his main competitors.

The second favorite is the three-time French Open champion Novak Djokovic, despite not having won any titles in 2024 and having played only one clay event this season. The third favorite is Jannik Sinner at 7/2.
