Daniil Medvedev cruises into Rome semi-final over Hanfmann

Daniil Medvedev is through to the Rome Open semi-final after beating Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets 6-2 6-2 continuing his sensational season.

Medvedev is having such a good season that he's a clay expert now. Taking on Hanfmann who was has been brilliant all week long proved no issue for Medvedev who was able to win in two simple straight sets. There were some doubts about whether Medvedev's level o clay this year is true or just a coincidence but it's clear that it is here to stay.

The first set saw Medvedev break down Hanfmann rather comfortably as it's a matchup that suits him well. The German likes to attack and Medvedev likes to defend. That was something that he used in this one and it mostly came down to his hitting some incredible winners from various positions.

Twice as many winners for Medvedev in the first set en route to a 6-2 finish. The second set saw Hanfmann step up with his shot-making however it didn't do much. He had more winners in this set than Medvedev but also more errors so the end result was pretty much the same. Another 6-2 set for Medvedev who moves on 6-2.
