At the end of October last year, Daniil Medvedev lost the Vienna quarter-final to Kevin Anderson in two tight sets, failing to reach the semis at the fourth consecutive event!
Increasing his level, Daniil hasn't lost a match since then, rattling off 19 victories and 11 against the top-10 rivals, becoming only the sixth player to achieve that since 1990 after Thomas Muster, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic! Passing all the obstacles, Daniil toppled 11 players from the elite group at the Paris Masters, the ATP Finals, the ATP Cup and the Australian Open, winning three titles and reaching the last four at Melbourne Park.
Daniil claimed his third Masters 1000 title in Paris last year, beating Diego Schwartzman and Alexander Zverev and gathering a boost ahead of the ATP Finals. Medvedev conquered all five London matches, including wins over the world's leading three players, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem.
Kicking off the new season at the ATP Cup, Medvedev joined forces with Andrey Rublev to share eight singles wins and lift the trophy for his country in big style. Daniil defeated Diego Schwartzman, Alexander Zverev and Matteo Berrettini to extend his top-10 streak, hoping for more of the same at the Australian Open.
Facing Andrey Rublev in the quarter-final, Medvedev defeated Rublev in straight sets, securing the 11th consecutive top-10 victory and entering the charts with some of the finest ATP Tour players from the previous three decades. Daniil will seek the 12th straight top-10 win against Stefanos Tsitsipas on Friday.
