Aryna Sabalenka, Victoria Mboko, Talia Gibson and Linda Noskova secured their places in the quarter-finals at Indian Wells following a session that produced both expected results and significant surprises.
World No. 1 Sabalenka advanced with a controlled victory over Naomi Osaka, while Gibson continued one of the tournament’s most unexpected runs by defeating seventh seed Jasmine Paolini. Mboko delivered another convincing performance to eliminate Amanda Anisimova, and Noskova closed the day with a dominant win against Alexandra Eala.
The results further shaped the final stages of the draw, highlighting the strong form of several rising players alongside established contenders. Sabalenka extended her consistency at WTA 1000 level, reaching another quarter-final, while Gibson and Mboko continued breakthrough runs that could significantly impact their rankings. Noskova also maintained impressive momentum as the Czech sets up a quarter-final meeting with the in-form Australian qualifier.

Aryna Sabalenka def. Naomi Osaka 6-2, 6-4

Aryna Sabalenka delivered a composed performance to defeat Naomi Osaka 6-2, 6-4 and advance to the quarter-finals. The world No. 1 imposed her aggressive baseline game early in the match, capitalising on Osaka’s serving difficulties to establish control of the opening set.
The decisive moment in the first set came when Osaka committed three double faults in a single service game, allowing Sabalenka to secure the early break. From that point onward the Belarusian maintained steady pressure on return, generating multiple break opportunities while protecting her own serve with authority. Sabalenka closed the set with an ace after winning 75% of points behind her first serve.
Osaka attempted to reset in the second set and managed to hold more comfortably during the early exchanges. However, Sabalenka continued to dictate rallies with powerful groundstrokes, gradually increasing the pressure in return games. At 3-3, the Belarusian created two break chances and converted the opportunity with a decisive backhand winner.
Serving with confidence, Sabalenka finished the match without facing a break in the contest. She struck seven aces and won 75% of first-serve points while saving both break points she faced. The victory sends the four-time Grand Slam champion into another WTA 1000 quarter-final as she continues her pursuit of the Indian Wells title.

Talia Gibson def. Jasmine Paolini 7-5, 2-6, 6-1

Talia Gibson produced one of the biggest surprises of the tournament by defeating seventh seed Jasmine Paolini 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals. The Australian qualifier demonstrated resilience in a tightly contested opening set, eventually securing the decisive break at 6-5 after several missed opportunities earlier in the match.
Paolini responded strongly in the second set, raising her serving level significantly. The Italian won 88% of points behind her first serve and conceded just four service points throughout the set, allowing her to level the match comfortably and force a deciding third.
The momentum shifted again in the final set as Gibson immediately took control. The 21-year-old secured an early break and consolidated it with confident service games, dictating rallies with aggressive shot-making. As the set progressed, Paolini struggled to contain the pace coming from the Australian’s forehand side.
Gibson ultimately closed the match with a commanding final set performance, striking a series of winners to seal the upset. The victory marks her sixth consecutive win in Indian Wells and guarantees her a new career-high ranking of world No. 67, securing her first appearance inside the Top 100.

Victoria Mboko def. Amanda Anisimova 6-4, 6-1

Victoria Mboko continued her impressive run by defeating Amanda Anisimova 6-4, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals. The Canadian teenager delivered a highly efficient performance from the baseline, consistently forcing errors from Anisimova during extended rallies.
The opening set remained tight through the early games as both players protected their serves. Mboko eventually secured the first break at 4-3, capitalising on her superior consistency during longer exchanges. She maintained the advantage with solid service games and closed the set when Anisimova produced a forehand unforced error.
Mboko carried that momentum into the second set, immediately breaking Anisimova’s serve to establish control. The Canadian continued to apply relentless pressure on return while maintaining a high level behind her own serve, winning 81% of points on her first delivery.
As frustration grew for Anisimova, Mboko extended her lead with another break and eventually sealed the victory with her third break of the set. She finished the match without dropping serve and won a remarkable 69% of second-serve return points. The result sends Mboko into the quarter-finals of a WTA 1000 event for the third time in her career. Notably, on both previous occasions she progressed even further, reaching the final (and winning the title in Canadian Open)

Linda Noskova def. Alexandra Eala 6-2, 6-0

Linda Noskova produced one of the most dominant performances of the round, defeating Alexandra Eala 6-2, 6-0 in just 56 minutes. The Czech quickly established control with an early break and never allowed the Filipina to settle into the match.
Eala entered the contest with confidence after her upset victory over Coco Gauff earlier in the tournament, but she struggled to replicate that level against Noskova’s consistent baseline pressure. The Czech secured a double break in the first set and maintained complete authority on serve, winning 77% of points behind her first delivery.
Despite briefly threatening with a break point late in the opening set, Eala was unable to shift the momentum. Noskova held firm and served out the set before immediately extending her dominance in the second.
The 21-year-old won nine consecutive games during the closing stages of the match, repeatedly exploiting errors from Eala while protecting her own service games without difficulty. Noskova finished with seven aces, no double faults and held all seven of her service games.
With the victory, Noskova advances to the quarter-finals where she will face qualifier Talia Gibson, who arrives with momentum after defeating three Top-20 opponents during her run in Indian Wells.
