Last year's champion Taylor Fritz is through the quarter-final of the Indian Wells Masters after beating Marton Fucsovics in straight sets 6-4 6-3.
There is simply something magical that works for Fritz in Indian Wells as he keeps winning matches. This was once again a very strong performance from the American despite some minor problems in the second set. The first set was really close as Fucsovics played one of his best events in years with the American only getting a late break.
The break point was actually a set point as well 6-4. Both played really well, especially Fucsovics who even served better than Fritz. He had two winners more but simply played one bad game at the worst possible time to lose the set. Fritz played amazing tennis to start the second set just hitting winners left and right.
He took a 4-1 lead when Fucsovics finally started to get into the match as well. This time around he relaxed his hand and we saw some amazing shots from him. The 4-1 lead turned to a 4-3 match with the Hungarian having a chance to make it 4-4 but he failed giving Fritz the crucial break once again.
This time around there was no fumbling from the American as he proceeded to finish off the match 6-3.
