America’s young tennis star
Sebastian Korda has stated that
his recent victory against the world number three Daniil Medvedev was the
biggest of his career.
The 23-year-old came out on top in the round of 32 clash
against the Russian tennis star in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-2.
After the match, Korda was quoted in a report where he labeled
the victory as the biggest of his career.
“It’s been a very difficult year, for sure," said Korda.
"I had a long pause on my year for 3 or 4 months. Especially when I was
playing some of the best tennis of my career so far.
"It was difficult, but it’s a long journey. I’m happy
with the way I played today. It’s definitely one of the biggest victories for
me in my career.”
Korda is now set to face off Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo
in the round of 16 on Tuesday.
The Florida-born has had a mixed year where he started
brightly and played in the quarterfinal of the Australian Open.
However, he lost to
Russia’s Karen Khachanov in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-3, 6-0. In the
other three Grand Slams, Korda failed to qualify for the third round or beyond.
