Novak Djokovic is not playing this week and won't play next week but the Serbian is still enjoying being world number one.
The achievement is a deserved one as the Serbian currently holds all three Grand Slam titles in 2021 with the potential to win the US Open and complete the calendar grand slam. It would be a monumental achievement as it's never been done in the Open Era.
Djokovic is used to breaking records and currently, he is sitting at the top of worlds tennis for the 333rd week which is the most ever by an ATP player. The milestone is an important one to Djokovic who spoke about it numerous times and it shows a player's dominance over his competition in measurable units (weeks).
Djokovic has a comfortable lead over any other players as Roger Federer has the 2nd most weeks as number one (310) but Novak has his sights set on higher grounds. With this week Djokovic became 2nd all-time in both ATP & WTA history at the number one spots skipping over Navratilova who was number one for 332 weeks.
Steffi Graff is the all-time leader with 377 weeks as the best player in the world as Djokovic is eyeing that number for himself. There is quite a long journey towards that but Djokovic believes himself capable of doing it. Check out his position among other tennis legends below.
