Andy Murray doesn't feel like he deserves the sort of retirement ceremony Roger Federer got last Friday at the Laver Cup.
Murray was there to witness it all from the front row and he was quite amazed by what he was able to see. He felt it was a deserving way to send off the legend but he doesn't have the same feeling about himself. Speaking after the Laver Cup, Murray admitted:
"I'm really not thinking about that right now. I certainly won't and don't deserve to have a send-off like that. Roger did deserve that night and it was super special having all of those guys there watching on the side of the court."
Murray explained that he doesn't really want a farewell match although he knows he would the public know what his final event would be:
"Look, for me, I'm not going to have a farewell match, I guess, like that. I probably would announce when I'm going to play my last event and stuff, but when that is, I don't know. I'm still playing competitive tennis and physically feeling good against top players. I just need to start really turning some of these tight losses and close matches into wins. (It is as) simple as that."
