ATP Chief Andrea Gaudenzi talked about
Roger Federer in a recent interview admitting that every match the Swiss ace plays is a gift to tennis fans.
Roger Federer has not played consistent tennis since 2019 as the Swiss ace continues to struggle with knee problems and other injuries. Since undergoing an operation on his knee Federer appeared in only 5 matches last year before opting to undergo another surgery. The tennis legend maintained that he is doing so in order to be able to enjoy a full life after tennis admitting that it's not always about tennis.
ATP Chief Gaudenzi was asked about Federer in a recent talk with Eurosport and he admitted:
“Roger is over 40 years old. Every match he plays from now on will be a gift for us."
Gaudenzi that provided some sort of an update to his status saying:
"If Federer returns, that could happen in the second part of the season -- maybe during the American hard court swing. We're obviously looking forward to him being back on the tour, but he's taking his time after the surgeries he's had."
It's unknown when Federer will return despite a recent positive update where he said that he is hopeful that things will go according to plan. It's unlikely he will be able to play at Wimbledon this year but the US Open is a realistic goal for Federer and fans are hopeful.
