Farewell to a Legend: Roland Garros set to celebrate Rafael Nadal's legacy in style

Roland Garros organizers have everything settled for an extraordinary tribute to Rafael Nadal, set to take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025, marking the opening day of the second major of the season and the first edition since the Spanish legend retired.
The ceremony will unfold on the iconic Philippe Chatrier court following the conclusion of three daytime session matches, with festivities expected to begin around 6 PM CET. The tribute will feature the distinctive voice of Marc Maury, French Open's renowned speaker who has narrated each of Nadal's historic victories on Parisian clay.
Nadal's remarkable Roland Garros legacy includes an unprecendented 14 titles captured between 2005 and 2022, establishing him as the undisputed king of clay court tennis. His dominance at the venue produced an extraordinary record of 121 victories against merely 4 defeats (what?!), including an astounding 81 consecutive wins on clay.
The celebration promises emotional moments as Nadal will be joined in the Philippe Chatrier stands by family members and his entire professional team spanning his 21-year career. Organizers have confirmed that members of his original coaching staff from his maiden 2005 victory will be present.
Tournament officials have remained secretive about specific details, though they've promised "many surprises" including an unexpected element involving Rafa's long time rival, Roger Federer.
Additionally, an immersive exhibition celebrating Nadal's legendary career will run throughout the entire tournment at the Roland Garros Tenniseum.

French Tennis Federation President, Gilles Moretton, visited Nadal in Mallorca alongside tournament director Amelie Mauresmo to coordinate the whole tribute.
Moretton emphasized that this ceremony represents the proper farewell Nadal deserves, surpassing the tribute he received following his final match at the Davis Cup in Málaga.
This tribute honors a player whose impact transcended tennis, transforming Roland Garros into his personal kingdom and creating an indelible and unreachable legacy on Parisian clay.
