A great Roger Federer exit interview by @christophclarey: nyti.ms/3BPMyqp
Many fans always wish their favourite athlete goes out with a 'bang' but very rarely does it happen that way and it certainly didn't happen with Federer.
The ceremony was certainly something memorable and the match itself was decent but he didn't win it. It wasn't the perfect ending many wanted for Federer but as his career has shown, even some of the best don't have it perfect.
Federer itself is content with the way it went as he revealed in a recent interview with New York Times:
"I think I feel complete. I lost my last singles match. I lost my last doubles match. I lost my voice from screaming and supporting the team. I lost the last time as a team. I lost my job, but I’m very happy. I’m good. I’m really good."
He added:
"That’s the ironic part, is everybody thinks about happy fairy-tale endings, you know? And for me, actually it ended up being that but in a way that I never thought was going to happen."
