Roger Federer is successfully through at the US Open after seeing off Britain's Dan Evans relatively comfortably as the Swiss ace put on a show for the crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
He came away a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 winner against Evans who was relatively more tougher than Sumit Nagal and Damir Dzumhur who Federer had to comeback against.
His class showed on the baseline with him launching 48 winners including 10 aces. As well as 80 per cent of first serve points and 70 per cent on second serve. As a result he is into the Round of 16 for the 18th consecutive year.
This also improves his overall record to a brilliant 88-13 at Flushing Meadows. Evans who has been in brilliant form this year trudged straight down the tunnel after the match as he was not allowed to find his rhythm at all against a Federer in full flow.
Next up for the World No.3 will be David Goffin or Pablo Carreno Busta who will face off on Court 17 later today.
Karolina Pliskova on the Women's side didn't have it as easy holding off Ons Jabeur in a thrilling tie to make the second week of the US Open for the fourth year in a row.
The No.3 seed came through in a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory where she had a mid match slump but came back to win through.
She eased through the first set but Jabeur came back to slam away 49 winners and matched the World No.3 with 10 aces of her own.
Even when Pliskova was ahead, Jabeur continued to comeback snatching a break in the deciding set but the former regained her composure to move through and serve the match out.
