Rick Macci,
drew an interesting analogy when comparing Novak Djokovic to Roger Federer and
Pete Sampras.
The former
coach of Serena Williams and Venus Williams is always attentive to the current
state of tennis. This time, he made an analogy on social media regarding Novak
Djokovic's movement on grass, comparing him to Roger Federer and Pete Sampras.
"Movement
on grass is so different. Roger was so graceful he was poetry in motion.
Sampras was so light he was on egg shells. @DjokerNole is so nimble and balanced
he can fire groundstrokes off both butterfly wings with a glass of goat milk on
his head and not spill a drop," Macci wrote on Twitter
When it
comes to Wimbledon titles, these three players hold the record for the most
victories among male athletes. Roger Federer currently leads the pack with 8
titles, followed closely by Pete Sampras and Novak Djokovic with 7 each. This
year, Djokovic has the opportunity to match Federer's tally and claim his 24th
Grand Slam title, thus equaling Margaret Court's all-time record.
Fourth
Round against Hurckacz.
As we enter
the fourth round of Wimbledon, Djokovic faces his toughest challenge yet in the
form of the 17th seed, Hubert Hurckacz. Djokovic's path to the fourth round has
been flawless, as he has not dropped a single set thus far, overcoming
opponents such as Pedro Cachín and Jordan Thompson.
On the
other side of the court, Hurckacz secured victories against Albert Ramos
Vinolas, local player Jan Choinski, and the 14th seed, Lorenzo Musetti.
Hurckacz's powerful serve has been a standout feature, and his previous
accomplishments, including reaching the semifinals of the 2021 Wimbledon
tournament and winning the 2022 Halle Open, prove his proficiency on grass
courts.
"He
didn't drop a set so far in the tournament. I saw how he was playing. He's very
comfortable playing on grass. He beat Federer here some years ago. He's a
player that doesn't mind playing on a big stadium," Djokovic said about
Hurckacz
"As
you mentioned, super nice guy, someone that I really, really like off the
court. It's going to be a great battle. I look forward to that. I know I have
to be at my best to win," the 23-time Grand Slam champion added.
