Jenson Brooksby has his first win on the ATP Tour in two years. The American dug deep to defeat Benjamin Bonzi for his first tour win since 2023 at Indian Wells.

Brooksby last defeated Casper Ruud in one of his best wins of his career but he soon went from elation to doping hell with missed tests leading to a doping suspension and he was off the tour for a considerable period of time.

Reaching the third round of the Australian Open on debut, he sealed a first top three win before undergoing wrist surgery. But his stint off court was prolonged as he was banned.

A provisional suspension was handed down by the ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) after he was alleged to have missed three doping tests. Brooksby accepted this but denied he was doping.

He was suspended until January 2025 but came to an agreement to reduce his suspension to 13 months. He returned at the 2025 Australian Open but has been poor losing fairly comfortably to Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the first round.

But now he has something to cheer about amid all the doom and gloom that surrounded his suspension after such a sudden rise. He has recently played Challenger Tour but he has not had it easy with the opposition he has been facing.

He lost to rising star Ethan Quinn in three last week after beating Cameron Wong. But he then lost to Tommy Paul in three in Dallas and then to end January lost comfortably to J.J Wolf so not exactly easy tests. But ones that seemingly have built himself back up to hopefully making up for lost time.

Next up is Felix Auger-Aliassime who has been in ultra impressive form as of late so it won't be easy but depending on your opinion on Brooksby, it is either superb news or not. But for him at least, it is the former.
