Daniil Medvedev could get confused in his coaching box in the coming weeks as
Gilles Simon will join his long-term coach, Gilles Cervera in his team starting from Indian Wells.
For at least 10 weeks per year as per WeLoveTennis, it will see the former World No.6 who retired in 2022 in a year which saw him reach 500 career wins. A two time Grand Slam Quarter-Finalist who reached his peak back in 2009, he will take his first steps into coaching in the coming weeks.
It is thought that according to the source, this move has been done to mirror the team that Jannik Sinner has. This sees both Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi as a tandem pairing and with Simon adding to Cervera given that the Frenchman was a similar player and tactician, the thought process will be there to add something else to the team. Medvedev hopes that it will be for a long time, but he isn't yet sure on how it will work but the hope is very much there that he will make him even better and add a bit more experience to his game.
"He is going to help us move forward, help us win titles, and help me become a better player. Simon is a very smart player that can help me improve my game – especially hoping to improve parts of my game that are maybe not the best. We will see how it goes. So far it has been going good. Hopefully it is for a very long time but that depends on a lot of factors. For sure Gilles Cervara will be more time with me than Gilles Simon. We will see what the future brings as to how many weeks he will be with us," said Medvedev.
