Last week,
Benoit Paire lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas in his first match at the
Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) but
triumphed against Dustin Brown on Monday. On the other hand,
David Goffin lost to both Richard Gasquet and Matteo Berrettini and had a huge motivation to win his first match against
Alexei Popyrin.
In the first match of the second week, we saw an all-French matchup between
Corentin Moutet and Benoit Paire.
The first mentioned replaced Lucas Pouille, who got injured, in the competition. Although it was the first match for Moutet at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS), he showed great tennis skills. However, Paire triumphed in the match 11-17, 17-12, 15-14, and 15-13. He was already down 10-14 in the third quarter but managed to come back what he commented during the change over when he said: "What a comeback. What-a-come-back!"
In the second match of the day, the winner was known already after 3 quarters. David Goffin showed a dominant performance against Alexei Popyrin when he triumphed 20-9, 21-6, 13-11, and 15-10. The Belgian got his first victory of the competition and he will be attempting to add another tomorrow.
